Edwards and O'Neil are two of the early candidates under consideration to replace the former manager as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the team's ten-game without a victory beginning to the Premier League season.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have historic links to the club - are among the options to be considered by the club leadership.

Edwards is presently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential hurdle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton head coach - who made more than 100 of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys backing from the club directors as they start the process of hiring a fresh head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, even though he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The former West Ham midfielder is out of work which means Wolves would not be required to provide any compensation.
